Social Bookmarking Help
Posted on November 13th, 2006by MastaG
So how many times have you been reading a web page and seen a link that says “Digg It”, or “Add to del.icio.us”? These websites are referred as “social bookmarkers”. They allow users to share interesting websites / articles. By adding the link your social bookmark, you can keep track of websites you like, your friends can see what interesting info you’re reading, and it helps spread our little website around the gigantic Internet. It’s a great place to find new information, and acts as a form of free advertising for non-commercial independent sites like Nature’s Graffiti.
We have 4 of our favorite social bookmarkers displayed in every post (but you can always add our posts to ANY social bookmarker). If you are reading one of our posts, and you click one of these it will create a social bookmark back to the post you are reading. Here’s the social bookmarkers we display on our site:
del.icio.us - my favorite, because of its button integration with FireFox
Digg - easily the most popular one on the web
Yahoo! - yep, everyone’s in on the action these days
That’s the basics! Want to know more? How about the history of social bookmarking? Checkout the Wikipedia article for social bookmarking
